ALTIN HA PYRAMIDS AND BEACH TOUR
Your guide meets you at the hotel lobby, the cruise port, or the airport. Board an air conditioned van, and your guide gives a narrated tour of Belize City, rural areas and local customs.
The drive is 1 hour from the port to Altun Ha where we take a break to use the modern facilities, then walk into the main plaza that dates to 200 BC, and see the four Temple Pyramids that date as early as 200 AD. Your guide will share information on the archaeological findings, including the jade mask, skeleton remains, blood letting rituals instruments.
Then we climb to the top of the temples and see the ancient kingdom, walk to the other structures and see the mask of the gods that decorate the buildings. The tour moves on to the Sun Temple, where major findings included 7 burial tombs of priestly kings, including the Jade Head. We will go to the top to see the sacrificial altar, then back to the van and its beach time, with water slides, swings, the sea, and swimming.
LAMANAI AND NEW RIVER CRUISE
This Lamanai tour starts daily at 8:00 a.m. with pickups at city hotels, San Pedro Belize express water taxi terminal. and the municipal airstrip.
Your guide narrates the city tour and rural areas along the 1 hour drive then we board a boat for the 1 hour sightseeing river ride, looking at birds, orchids, water lilies and possible crocodile sightings, passing near the Amish community of shipyard and arriving at the new river lagoon at the footsteps of the Ancient city of Lamania.
Your guide leads the group through the forest paths looking at huge Guanacaste trees and Cohune palm forest, and listening to the sounds of the howler monkeys, then arriving at the Mask Temple, where you have an opportunity to take photos and go up to the top. Then a 5 minute walk through the forest path and you see the High Temple 220 BC and the guide explains the secrets revealed through excavations at the site. See the Ballcourt, Residential Areas, Jaguar Temple, visit onsite museum, have lunch, then a boat ride.
